The event was officiated with a prayer ceremony by Reverend Letone Uili of the EFKS church Poutasi. In attendance was the honourable Minister of Health - Hon. Faimalotoa Kika Stowers-Ah Kau, Member of Parliament for Falealili West - Aumua Leavasa Isaia Lameko, High Chief Tuatagaloa Joe Annandale, hospital staff and invited guests.
The project involved the renovation and building of new restrooms including facilities for those with special care at the Poutasi Falealili District Hospital as well as the tiling of the doctors and nurses' home.
BSP Country Head, Taituuga Maryann Lameko-Vaai in her address stated, that the diverse range of BSP projects every year is synonymous with BPS's vision, to be the leading financial service provider in helping our Pacific communities prosper.
"This year's project was specifically chosen to promote the importance of Healthy living and Good Hygiene, especially given the global impact of COVID-19 and the increasing number of patients at the district hospitals," said Taitu'uga.
"BSP's corporate culture is to be fully engaged and committed to the prosperity and wellness of the communities that we operate in. Our consistent message is that BSP cares and we are committed to giving back to the community," she further added.
The Minister of Health Hon. Faimalotoa Kika Stowers-Ah Kau in her key note speech, thanked BSP on behalf of the Government, for this initiative and for continuously supporting the efforts of the Government for the benefit of our people.
High Chief Tuatagaloa Joe Annandale expressed that, the village of Poutasi is delighted with the community project.
Tuatagaloa who is a hotelier himself added, 'clean restrooms are a first measure of a well-managed hotel and the same can be said of a hospital. We are grateful to BSP for thinking of us and funding the additional facilities for the people of this district".
Other BSP projects completed included work and donations to Mapuifagalele Home for the Elderly, Mapuipulotu Home for the Elderly, Samoa Victim Samoa Group, Samoa Cancer Society, Fitman Men's Conference, Carmelite Sisters, Goshen Trust, School Prizegivings, Water Tanks, Manase Tourism Festival, Go Green Clean up to name a few.
