Bank South Pacific officially handed over its 2025 Community Project donation valued at ST$40,000 to Goshen Mental Health Services Trust in Vailima, as part of its annual group-wide community initiative that is rolled out across all BSP Pacific markets.
The donation is part of BSP’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact in the communities it serves. This year’s focus is on Mental Health reflecting a growing national need for stronger support services, rehabilitation resources and community care for individuals living with mental illness. For BSP Samoa, this marks the 10th consecutive year of delivering its community project, demonstrating a decade of consistent, hands-on support for the Samoan community.
The official presentation was held at 2:00PM and included a keynote address by BSP Financial Group CEO, Mr Mark Robinson, who acknowledged the vital role that organizations like Goshen Mental Health Services Trust play in supporting individuals living with mental illness.
“Mental health support is essential to the strength of any community. We are proud to contribute in a way that adds value to the daily work of Goshen and supports the journey of healing and recovery for their patients,” said Mr. Robinson.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by BSP Financial Group Chairman, Poluveletele Robert Bradshaw joined by representatives from the Ministry of Health, Goshen Trust, and other invited guests.
BSP’s 2025 Community Project donation includes:
A hydroponic farming system and greenhouse which will create a sustainable green garden to produce food and serve as a therapeutic activity for patients; a PA sound system to support awareness, educational, and wellness programs; solar lights and sixteen mattresses to improve the comfort of patients in care and two laptops worth to assist with administrative work and digital support services.
Chairman of Goshen Mental Health Services Trust, Mr.Tuatagaloa Joe Annandale, led the program and conveyed his deep appreciation for BSP’s generous donation. “We are extremely grateful to Bank South Pacific for choosing to support mental health in Samoa. This garden will be a living example of hope, growth, and care,” he said.
The same sentiments were echoed by Dr. George Tuitama, Head of the Mental Health Unit at Motootua; stating that this initiative offers a real opportunity to strengthen their rehabilitation programs while also contributing to their sustainability efforts.
The green garden initiative will enhance Goshen’s rehabilitation programme by offering a meaningful activity that promotes wellbeing, focus, and routine, while also contributing to food supply for patients and staff.
