BSP Commemorates 8 Years of Service in Samoa

BSP Financial Group Limited has significantly grown its operation in Samoa, contributing $46.2 million in taxes to the Government of Samoa in the past 8 years alone since 2015.

In celebrating its eighth anniversary in Samoa, BSP Samoa Country Manager Tunumafono Jennifer Fruean highlighted the notable achievements of BSP along the years. 

“Eight years on after entering the market, BSP’s customer base has expanded from 40,000 to 66,000 customers. Local workforce has grown from 75 to over 110 staff. Additionally, BSP assets in Samoa has significantly grown to an impressive $712 million from $286 million.

“The bank has made remarkable progress in market share, moving from the second position to becoming the leading bank in Samoa for both lending and deposit services. We are proud to be serving Samoa through our growing network comprising over 400 merchants and agents, along with 32 ATMs.

“These accomplishments are significant milestones that BSP, our stakeholders and our customers have achieved collectively. We thank our customers for their patronage over these eight (8) years and we look forward to our continued partnership in the future,” Fruean said during BSP’s eight-anniversary celebration on Thursday, July 13 2023, at the TATTE Convention Centre.

The event witnessed the esteemed presence of over 200 customers including Government, Private Sector and Community leaders. The Minister of Finance, Hon. Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio’o delivered the keynote address, congratulating BSP, its shareholders, board of directors, management, staff and customers for reaching 8 years of influential service to Samoa and her people. This momentous occasion marks a testament to the organisation's commitment to fostering economic growth and development in Samoa.

A moment of silence was also observed in honor of the former BSP Financial Group Chairman, the late Tulaniu o Atua Sir Kostas Constantinou. The visiting General Manager Offshore Branches, Taituuga Maryann Lameko-Vaai firstly thanked God for His blessings over the bank’s journey. She also paid tribute to Sir Kostas, a visionary leader who was committed to the prosperity of local communities and who was instrumental in bringing BSP to Samoa and the Pacific region. Taituuga also thanked customers for their incredible support and congratulated the people of Samoa for their resilience especially during the COVID19 pandemic.

A special staff function was also held on Wednesday 12 July at the Samoa Tourism Authority Samoan Fale to commemorate not only the 8-year milestone but also to thank staff and acknowledge employees who celebrated 10 and 25 years of service to the bank. Recognition awards were also presented to acknowledge outstanding contributions during the first half of the year.
